Talking Dead Emmy Nomination

Megaphone TV’s work in conjunction with AMC Studios, AMC Digital, and Embassy Row has been recognized with an Emmy® nomination for “Outstanding Interactive Program,” as part of the 67th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards.

Megaphone’s live interactive television technologies ran on every episode during season 5 of AMC’s “Talking Dead,” hosted by Chris Hardwick.

In “Talking Dead,” the live wrap-up show following the weekly premiere of “Walking Dead,” Hardwick invited the home audience to participate directly in the studio discussion through interactive questions relating to plot points from the just-aired episode.

Guests on the show, which included “Walking Dead” cast members, watched the voting live and responded to the audience on-air in realtime. The resulting high-energy exchanges created some of the most memorable moments of the season, including Conan O'Brien shrieking at the screen with a pocket knife while defending his ability to survive the "zombie apocalypse."

A unique interactive feature - a first on primetime network television - is the “Talking Dead Quiz,” where the entire home audience participated in a massively multiplayer live interactive trivia contest.  Three questions directly relating to the just-aired episode were asked of the audience. Using any internet-connected device, viewers were pitted against one another to answer the questions correctly in the shortest amount of time to earn points. The top players received on-air accolades immediately at the end of the game.

“We’re extremely pleased to be part of the next wave of television with ’Talking Dead’,” said Dan Albritton, Megaphone TV’s Co-Founder and CEO. “Broadcasters and networks are urgently looking for ways to stem the tide of a rapidly declining TV viewership and Megaphone is the perfect participatory experience to bridge the gap between linear television and a connected audience."

Megaphone is pleased to be part of the next season of “Talking Dead” beginning in October as well as a special version of “Talking Dead” for AMC’s premiere of “Fear the Walking Dead” in August.

The 67th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, September 12 during a live broadcast on FXX.
